Emraan Hashmi made his debut as a Bollywood actor in 2003 with a film that did not see success. Before starting his acting career, he also had a brief stint as an assistant director in a Vikram Bhatt movie in 2002. His movie, Murder starring opposite the sizzling actress Mallika Sherawat was a murder thriller and was a huge box office hit. Since then Emraan has enacted several hot kissing scenes and became instantly popular among the younger generation for his on-screen boldness. He is often referred to as a “one-note actor” and a “serial kisser” by critics.

He has bagged Filmfare awards in a negative role and also as the best supporting actor. The Hindi movie, “Once upon a Time in Mumbai” was a hit with co-star Prachi Desai. Hashmi has successfully portrayed himself in a negative role so much so that he was nominated for the Filmfare Awards in the category of Best Performance in a Negative Role. He is best known as a lover boy, but Emraan has successfully portrayed the role of painter or even the role of a gangster in which the character had real-life inspiration and negative roles.

Emraan Hashmi played the role of a videographer in a recent political thriller and is said to have pulled off the role quite well. It was a complicated role and the movie was a critical success. For his role, Emraan received the Best Supporting Actor nomination in the 58th Filmfare Awards.

Emraan Hashmi is the nephew of well-known Hindi cinema presence Mahesh Bhatt and Mukesh Bhatt. He married his long-time girlfriend Parveen Sahani, a Hindu girl, in 2006 and also had a baby boy in 2010, whom they have named Ayaan.
