Clouded Leopard

The Clouded Leopards are found in the Himalayan foothills through mainland Southeast Asia into China. IUCN classified this species as vulnerable in 2008. As per the available facts and information from the wildlife conservation, the population size of Clouded Leopard declines to less than 10,000 mature individuals. It is believed that the species extinct in Taiwan. The preferred habitat of this endangered species is tropical and subtropical forests.

The Clouded Leopard is in danger because of the habitat loss, large scale deforestation, and commercial poaching for the wildlife trade. The skin, claws, teeth, meat and bones of this species is widely used for many purposes. The Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora has taken active measures to protect its habitat. Hunting is banned in many countries and the life is protected with national legislation.
