Anna Hazare Team is to begin indefinite fast in Delhi from July 25. The whole of Delhi is gearing up for the indefinite fast with Team Anna. The activists of India Against Corruption (IAC) had informed the media that this fast is a protest demanding action against the 15 Central Government Ministers, including President-elect Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who have been alleged of corruption. IAC spokesman Jaheer Hussain has told the media that they have strong evidence against three ministers on the basis of the reports prepared by Comptroller and Auditor General of India but complains that the government has so long not taken any action. The volunteers of IAC have also placed their demand for a Lokayukta to control corruption within the state of Tamil Nadu. Anna wants a Special Investigation Team to investigate the allegations of corruption against the Union Ministers, a fast-track court to try cases against MPs and, last but not least, a strong Lokpal Bill.
The hundreds of IAC volunteers have been very busy with the preparations for the July 25 fast. As reported by IAC media coordinator Aswathi Muralidharan, the volunteers have organised themselves into various teams such as crowd management, health, sanitation, Anshankari team, and media and guest management team. The team has chosen the date of July 25 to begin their fast, the day when the thirteenth President of India Mr. Pranab Mukherjee will be sworn in. Permission was granted for the team to fast in Jantar Mantar till August 8, the day in which the monsoon session of the Parliament is expected to start. More than 4,000 volunteers have registered themselves online from all over India. They will be fasting along with Arvind Kejirwal, Manish Sisodia and Gopal Rai. Anna will be joining the fast on July 29.
