Daylight Saving Time 2018, When is Daylight Savings 2018

Daylight Saving Time 2018, When is Daylight Savings 2018

Daylight Saving Time starts on the second Sunday in March and ends first Sunday in November in USA and Canada. This is done by setting the clock forward one hour at a predetermined date every year to give people an extra hour of sunlight in the evening hours. In U.K, however, DST program starts on the last Sunday in March and ends the last Sunday in October.

History of Daylight Savings

George Vernon Hudson from New Zealand initiated the modern version of daylight saving in 1895.  He was an entomologist and an astronomer. The first countries to use Daylight saving were Germany and Austria-Hungary begining 30 April 1916.

Daylight Saving Time United States, Canada 2018
In US and Canada, Daylight saving time 2018 starts on Sunday, March 11. Remember to set your clocks forward before going to bed  as at 2 a.m., it will become 3 a.m. Sunrise and sunset will be about 1 hour later on 11 Mar 2018 than the previous day bringing in more light in the evening. This is also called Spring Forward, Summer Time, and Daylight Savings Time.Daylight saving 2018 ends on Sunday, Nov. 4, 2018. On November 4, at 2.00 a.m, Clocks would be turned backward 1 hour to 01:00:00 local standard time. Sunrise and sunset will be about 1 hour earlier on 4 Nov 2018 than the previous day bringing in more light in the morning. This is also called Fall Back and Winter Time.

Daylight Saving Time United Kingdom 2018
Daylight Saving Time 2018 in UK starts on Sunday, March 25, 2018 and ends on October 28, 2018. The clocks spring ahead an hour at 1:00:00 a.m.

Most of the USA states forward their clocks during this DST time. States which do not forward are Guam, Virgin Islands, Hawaii, Arizona, Puerto Rico, Americana Samoa and the Northern Marianas Islands Most of the European countries also observe the Daylight saving time. The clock changes twice a year with the Daylight Saving Time program, with a specific start time and a finish time each year.

(Please not that it's also not daylight savings time, daylights saving time, daylight saving's time daylights savings time, daylight's saving time. It's just daylight saving time.)

"Daylight Saving" or "Daylight Savings"
Do remember the old adage for which way to turn clock hands. “Spring ahead” for the start of Daylight Savings Time in March and “Fall back” for the last day of Daylight Savings Time in November. The spelling for Daylight Savings Time is without the “s,” in “Savings,” but it is now so popular that “s” on the end of “Savings”, it is even printed on some calendars.

As the time comes near for the Daylight Saving Time 2018, searches for the term “Daylight Saving Time 2018” and "Daylight Savings Time 2018" increases sharply. Although the spike can be seen more for the "Daylight Savings Time 2018".

As per, the term Daylight Saving Time is correct, but Daylight Savings Time is used so often that it is now “acceptable.”

Daylight Saving Time is also known as “Spring Ahead, Daylight Savings Time, and Summertime.” Some people argue about they should have a DST program or not. While many believe that Daylight Saving Time is of some use to them but many Americans feel the program is of no use and should be stopped.

States in New England and some areas in Canada are trying to stop the DST program forever.

78 countries in the world observe DST, most of them in Europe. India, Japan, Russia and China do not participate in the practice.
