Thus March 9th, 1959 is also considered as the Barbie’s official birthday. Created by Ruth Handler, Barbie’s full name is Barbara Millicent Roberts.
One of the first toys which had extensive television advertising was Barbie. First they advertised at Mickey Mouse club by which their sales increased. Over a billion Barbie dolls have been sold globally in over 150 countries. Mattel introduced Ken Carson, Barbie’s boyfriend in 1961 as a result of huge demand for Barbie.

Barbie came in front of the world on March 9, 1959 at the American International Toy Fair in New York as an 11 inch tall doll girl.
In a trip to Germany, Ruth saw a doll which was exactly what she wanted, she pursued her husband to make a doll with adult features. Barbie had gone some small changes through the years.
Barbie's parents, George and Margaret Roberts, named her Barbara Millicent Roberts. Popularly known as Barbie. Ken's mother, Edna Carson, named him after her father, Kenneth. Barbie did get a number of siblings, cousins and friends!
Since Barbie was created, it has helped girls dream big. Barbie had more than 150 careers. She’s been an astronaut and a CEO.
